Bridget Loves Bernie (1972)
Overview
Bernard Slade, who also created The Partridge Family (ABC, 1970–74) and The Flying Nun (1967–70), devised the American sitcom Bridget Loves Bernie. It drew loosely on Abie's Irish Rose, a 1920s Broadway play that later became a 1940s radio show. Meredith Baxter and David Birney played the lead roles. CBS aired the series for a single season, from 1972 to 1973. After the show ended, Baxter and Birney tied the knot in real life.
